First Win of 2010

Readies for Boyd's and 201

(ALLEN, KENTUCKY) The Kinzer Motorsports team invaded the state of Alabama on July 30-31 and walked away with their first win of the 2010 racing season! Brandon Kinzer reached victory lane on Friday night at the Green Valley Speedway in Glencoe, Alabama. After timing in second fastest in his group during Southern Regional Racing Series (SRRS) qualifying, Brandon rolled off third on the grid in the 40-lap main event.

BK appeared headed towards a second place finish behind Ronnie Johnson, but a broken axle late in the race retired Johnson and handed the $3,000 victory to Kinzer. A day after his win at GVS, Brandon was in action at the Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, Alabama on Saturday evening. The Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series (SAS) rolled into the "Hornet's Nest" and a $5,400 top prize was up for grabs in the annual running of the 'Michael Head, Jr. Memorial.' The Allen, Kentucky driver qualified eighth fastest and later moved up two spots in the A-Main to record a sixth place performance behind only winner Ronnie Johnson, Tim Busha, Stacy Holmes, Terry Smith, and Dingus Griffin. Complete results from the Alabama doubleheader can be located online at www.southernregionalracingseries.com and www.southernallstarsracingseries.com.

"It feels good to get that first win under our belt, but I sure hate that Ronnie (Johnson) broke like that," commented Kinzer following the victory. "He had the field covered at Green Valley and I was going to be pretty happy to run second to him, but we will take the victory. We got caught up in a little skirmish early in the race that did some body damage, but other than that, I was really pleased with how our GRT car performed. I am getting more and more comfortable driving with this new spec motor package, as it is a totally different animal compared to our open motor stuff."

The #18 team will look for additional success over the August 6-7 weekend in the states of Georgia and Kentucky. On Friday night, the Boyd's Speedway in Ringgold, Georgia will play host to a $3,000 to win Southern Regional Racing Series (SRRS) program. The team will then head back to eastern Kentucky for a $3,000 to win unsanctioned showdown at the nearby 201 Speedway in Sitka, Kentucky on Saturday evening.
