The Flash Wins the Bash

The Flash Wins the Bash
Dirt Track Hall Of Fame Legend Ronnie Johnson “The Chattanooga Flash” proved his experience and patience at the 14th annual Bama Bash by taking home the $10,000 prize. It was just the night before where Johnson was able to barely lock into the main event finishing fourth in his heat race, and he himself was not too optimistic about his chances but said, “I’ll have to sleep on it”. Ronnie Johnson must have gotten plenty of rest in preparation for his day as he competed in 3 different divisions and ran a total of 145 laps combined on his way to sealing not only the Super Late Model event, but also the Limited Late Model victory as well. Although Johnson took the victory he was not the only contender for the majority of the race. On lap 16 race leader Jessie Stovall and front runner Ray Cook were tangled up in an accident with lapped race cars, which would hand off the lead to a strong running Todd Morrow. Morrow was looking to win his richest event yet, and looked to have a car with a shot leading a majority of the race. A blanket could be laid upon the top 3 race cars of Morrow, Wall and Thomas. William Thomas in the 22 machine battled closely with pre race favorite Chris Wall and then Ronnie Johnson showed his nose into the mix. Lapped traffic allowed for Johnson to sneak by the top 3 contenders in route to a comfortable lead and a race Win in the 14th Bama Bash.
