Chris Madden Wins Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals Championship
Chris Madden officially nabbed his third Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals title tonight in the series finale at the bad-fast Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, Tennessee! Chris posted the third quickest lap during qualifying, which locked him into the inside of the second row for the $5,300 to win main event. The Gray Court, South Carolina native took over the top spot on lap eleven and led up until the 43rd circuit when he unfortunately lost a wheel. The #44 team got Chris back out on the track to salvage a sixth place effort in the 53-lap affair. "Smokey" picked up an extra $5,353 for his championship on the two-week mini-series!

Ross Bailes dominates 31st Annual ULTIMATE SLM Laurens County Shrine Race
Ross Bailes admitted after Tuesday night's Super Late Model Shrine race at Laurens County Speedway that he had gotten down on himself earlier in the year because of problems with his car. Those problems certainly didn't present themselves as Bailes put on a dominating display in front of a stellar field and record crowd. The $3,000 victory was Ross Bailes biggest win to date, and surprisingly enough his 2nd ever in a super late model. His first victory came just 3 days before at Laurens Speedway as well.

Hail Cancels Lancaster Clash event!

The Carolina Clash Series headed to Lancaster Motorspeedway again, to try and get their $4,000 to win event in the books. The race was rained out just 2 weeks prior and this weekend was the designated makeup date. However, mother nature did not want any superlate models hitting the surface on Saturday as violent storms rolled into the Lancaster, SC. area. Tornado warnings were in the area as large sized hail fell from the skies. The teams and fans scrambled to their cars to try and beat the beating they were getting from the larger than golf ball sized hail bails. Some of the drivers that were in attendence was the current points leader Luke Roffers, Chris Ferguson, Dustin Mitchell, Ross Bailes, and Jeff Smith.
Lancaster Speedway Officials and the Carolina Clash have Re-Scheduled the event for Saturday Night, April 30.
Davenport back in victory lane at Cherokee

Davenport back in victory lane at Cherokee
Fans were already beginning to question whether Jonathan Davenport was going to be able to back up results from his 2010 racing season, as he had a Cinderella season that would be hard to match. This past Sunday Davenport made a good start in the right direction by clinching yet another $10,000 victory at Cherokee Speedway's "March Madness" event. The heartbreak of the night would be for driver Ross Bailes who dropped out of the event before he could take the green flag, he was slated to roll off from the 2nd position, and looked to have a car that could contend for the win and his first ever $10k prize. That would give Davenport the front row, and the battle would begin to take place between Roberts and Davenport, as Brindle fell back to 4th. Bloomquist quickly moved from his 7th place starting position to begin poking his nose into the mix, before time would run out. When the 60 lap event was over, it was Davenport that would Win with no pressure from behind, and prove that the Barry Wright house car program is strong yet again in 2011.

Weeks Wins the Skyler Trull Memorial!

Ricky Weeks Wins the 11th Annual Skyler Trull Memorial at Carolina Speedway!
Ricky Weeks used his veteran Carolina Clash racing skills to win yet another race in the Skyler Trull Memorial. It looked as if Ross Bailes was going to impress onlookers with a victory in the 40 lap event, as he had sat on the pole earlier and led the first 35 laps of the main event. The track was primarily slick from the bottom to the middle with some rough spots on the topside, keeping drivers from getting too high up on the racetrack. It was obvious that Bailes had the best racecar in the slick as no one ever closed more than 8 cars on the #87 Mastersbilt machine. It was only with about 5 to go that Ferguson showed the topside had some speed and closed in quickly on the Fellony Farms machine of Bailes, However the caution would halt the charge from the Mt. Holly driver. On the restart Ferguson tried the bottom again and left the door for Weeks to take the topside. Weeks charged quickly through turns 1 and 2 and took the lead down the backstretch. The move would be the move that sealed the deal for Weeks, pocketing him another $4,000 victory in the Carolina Clash season opener.

Madden Modoc 100 Winner

Madden Modoc 100 Winner
Chris Madden from Gray Court, SC. flexed his muscles in a usually competitive performance taking home the victory at the 3rd Annual Modoc 100. It was not Madden who dominated the majority of the race and looked to be the run away Winner, that driver Chris Ferguson. Many onlookers knew Ferguson switched chassis brands from Rocket in 2010 to his new Warrior in 2011, and typically it takes some time to develop speed with a new racecar. However, Ferguson showed the strength of his new car by setting fast time in qualifying earlier in the night with a lap time of 16.460. When the green flag dropped on the field for the 50 lap A Main event, it was Ferguson who dominated the earlier portion of the race. Johnny Pursley and Casey Roberts followed about 6-8 cars back, before Roberts would shuffle up to second taking aim on a younger Chris Ferguson. Meanwhile, Chris Madden had moved into 3rd place making the top 3 Ferguson, Roberts and Madden. Ferguson with a dominating car held the lead throughout the later part of the race and looked to be the runaway winner, until he closed in on the emphasis lapped traffic. Ferguson kept his #22 Warrior car locked to the bottom of the racetrack as he feared moving around would allow the 2nd and 3rd place cars to close in, However staying on the bottom did just that. It was with just a few laps to go that Roberts leaped up to the topside to make a move on Ferguson as he followed the lapped cars on the bottom of the track, Madden would follow into second knocking Ferguson back to 3rd in just one lap. In the next circuit Madden would display the same move on Roberts moving to the top side again to battle door to door for the final lap. Coming off turn four is was "Smokey" Chris Madden who pulled off a surprisingly late charge Win, Ferguson would sneak back by Roberts to finish second.
Check out the full Race Broadcast video, Photo Gallery, Pit Reports and Incar Camera footage from the Modoc 100!
When the dust settled both Ferguson and Roberts showed some frustration toward the lapped cars. However, both drivers are excited to be going to Cherokee Speedway next weekend with the Ultimate Super Series. Cherokee Speedway is one of the favorite tracks for Ferguson, Roberts and Chris Madden, so look for that event to be just as exciting as the final laps of the Modoc 100, as all three of those drivers are planning on being there. Dixie Dirt TV will be in attendance covering that race and also has featured a "Rewind" in the video section featuring the 2010 edition of March Madness. Be sure to check out that video now, and get up to speed on what to expect next weekend for March Madness 2011. DDTV will also be covering the 11th Annual Skyler Trull Memorial at Carolina Speedway on Saturday March 12th, prior to heading to Cherokee on the 13th.

The Flash Wins the Bash

The Flash Wins the Bash
Dirt Track Hall Of Fame Legend Ronnie Johnson “The Chattanooga Flash” proved his experience and patience at the 14th annual Bama Bash by taking home the $10,000 prize. It was just the night before where Johnson was able to barely lock into the main event finishing fourth in his heat race, and he himself was not too optimistic about his chances but said, “I’ll have to sleep on it”. Ronnie Johnson must have gotten plenty of rest in preparation for his day as he competed in 3 different divisions and ran a total of 145 laps combined on his way to sealing not only the Super Late Model event, but also the Limited Late Model victory as well. Although Johnson took the victory he was not the only contender for the majority of the race. On lap 16 race leader Jessie Stovall and front runner Ray Cook were tangled up in an accident with lapped race cars, which would hand off the lead to a strong running Todd Morrow. Morrow was looking to win his richest event yet, and looked to have a car with a shot leading a majority of the race. A blanket could be laid upon the top 3 race cars of Morrow, Wall and Thomas. William Thomas in the 22 machine battled closely with pre race favorite Chris Wall and then Ronnie Johnson showed his nose into the mix. Lapped traffic allowed for Johnson to sneak by the top 3 contenders in route to a comfortable lead and a race Win in the 14th Bama Bash.
Race Results:
1. Ronnie Johnson 5
2. Chris Wall 71
3. William Thomas 22
4. Todd Morrow 48

Bama Bash - Cooking up 3 In a Row ?

Bama Bash - Cooking up 3 In a Row?
It was a late, second night, at the 14th Annual Bama Bash as all 40 Late Models took time and lined up for their Heat races. Many drivers in the pit area were pulling double duty, including last years Bama Bash winner Ray Cook. The Dirt Track Hall of Famer Ronnie Johnson was showing his stamina while running 3 different divisions including Crates, Limiteds, and Super Late Models.
In Heat 1, it was Todd Morrow getting the jump on the "Intimigator" Chris Wall. The two would set a blistering pace on the rest of the competition in Heat 1, and when the checkered flag flew Morrow had the advantage by just a couple of car lengths. Heat 1 Results: 48-Todd Morrow, 71-Chris Wall, 15-Tim Busha, 99S-Terry Smith, and 121-Anthony Burroughs. Burroughs, the 2010 SRRS Series Champion, will have to try and make his way into the Bama Bash A-Main event through the consi.
In Heat 2, Brian Reese was hoping to accomplish a solid finish as he had been fast on Friday in testing and earlier in the day through qualifying. However, when the green flag dropped Reese would lose a couple of spots before regaining stride and falling into place. It was Jessie Stovall and William Thomas who would battle tightly for the Win for the remainder of the Heat. Heat 2 Results: 00-Jessie Stovall, 22t-William Thomas, 21A-Joe Armistead, 27P-Chuck Proctor, and 33-Brian Reese rounded out the top five. Reese will have to work his was through the consi.
In Heat 3, It was the "Cat Daddy" Clint Smith and defending Bama Bash Winner Ray Cook that would duke it out for a Heat race victory. However, Ray Cook proved his strength at Green Valley Speedway by dominating the Heat race and bringing home yet another checkered flag. Heat 3 Results: 53-Ray Cook, 2-Stacey Holmes, 44-Clint Smith, 5-Ronnie Johnson, 99-Derek Ellis.
In Heat 4, A couple younger drivers presented themselves on the leader board. Tony Knowles set an impressively fast pace and Dillon Crim was not too far behind. The younger duo, left the rest of the field as they showed their ability to get out front and stay there. Heat 4 Results: 26-Tony Knowles, 7-Dillon Crim, 1-Riley Hickman, 31-Tony Morris, and 22-Robert Gant rounded out the top 5.
All in all, it will be interesting to see if anyone will contest Ray Cook as he attempts to defend his title. In his Pit Report, Featured in the Video Section, Ray showed a very confident face with a even more confident words. However Chris Wall, Clint Smith, and Tony Knowles all seem to have cars capable of competing for the 14th Bama Bash Title!

Richards Playing Mind Games

Josh Richards plays with the competitions heads
Screven Motor Speedway - 2-2-11
The speedweeks stretch has officially began at the Screven Motor Speedway as cars rolled off the trucks and onto Georgia soil for the open practice night, in preparation for the Inaugural Winter Freeze. Many familiar Late Model Superstars were in attendance and some of them were showing some unique cards, creating some buzz in the pit area. Josh Richards, 2 Time Defending World Of Outlaws Late Model Champion, was representing a very unique LR quarter panel. Bub McCool, fresh off a major event Win in Arizona, had a few thoughts in regards to Richards special body panel, "If they are doing it, I'm sure there is something to it, but I don't think it will fly very long" said McCool. Richards was spotted driving his Super Late Model down the Savannah River Dragway, which is conveniently located right next to Screven Motor Speedway. There was something wrong with that picture and Dixie Dirt TV cameras were sure to capture the moment in the Josh Richards Pit Report, available online in the video gallery on www.DixieDirtTV.com.
There were many more teams in attendance to shakedown their 2011 rides, Clint Smith, Tim McCreadie, Steve Shaver and many more...Mostly Rocket cars. Tim McCreadie was excited to roll out his NEW 2011 Rocket Chassis "We got New stuff this year, so I'm excited to test out all the updates" said McCreadie prior to his first run on the 3/8 Mile Action Track.
